Answering 24 hours a day
Something sparking, buzzing, or smelling hot? Part of the house suddenly dark? Don't keep resetting the breaker, and don't wait it out. Call and we'll tell you honestly how serious it is.
If you see flames or smoke, get everyone out of the house and call 911 first. Don't go back inside to investigate, and don't stop to touch your electrical panel. Once you're safely out, you can call us — but people come before property, every time.
If you smell something burning but don't see smoke or fire, treat it as an emergency: stop using whatever seems to be involved, keep everyone away from that area, and don't try to open or troubleshoot the panel yourself. Call us and we'll walk in from there.
“If it's a real emergency, we'll tell you. If it can wait, we'll tell you that too.”
Is this an emergency?
If you're seeing any of these, don't wait on it. These are the situations we work to get to quickly:
Even with no visible smoke. A burning or "hot plastic" smell from an outlet, switch, or the panel is never a wait-and-see.
Sparking or arcing at an outlet, switch, fixture, or panel.
Your electrical panel should be silent. Buzzing or crackling from it means call now.
Part of the house goes dark for no clear reason — no storm, no area outage.
If the block has power and you don't, the problem is likely on your side.
Browning, warping, or melting around a receptacle or switch plate.
Feeling anything from an appliance, faceplate, or fixture.
Flooding or leaks near outlets, the panel, or your service equipment.
Damaged wiring, or damage to your electrical service where it enters the home.
Backup power that fails during an outage.
What it costs
Two ways we come out, and we'll tell you honestly which one your situation calls for. We're not going to turn a problem that can wait into a $400 emergency.
For situations that need someone fast. Priority emergency service is $400 for the first two hours during regular hours — Monday through Saturday, through 5:00 PM. We work to free up a qualified electrician for you rather than dropping you into the next open slot, and for a true emergency we aim to have someone there within about two hours whenever possible — though we won't promise a guaranteed time we can't control. This covers the visit; if a larger repair is needed, we explain what we found and give you a price before doing the work.
After 5:00 PM Monday through Saturday, and all day Sunday, priority emergency service is $500 for the first two hours. Same fast response, same honest diagnosis — just outside regular hours. As with any call, a larger repair is quoted before we do it.
For problems that can safely wait for the next available appointment. Same honest diagnosis, same electrician — just not priority dispatch. If your situation can wait, we'll tell you, and you save $100.
And if we can't get to a real emergency fast enough, we'll tell you that too — and if it comes to it, we'll point you toward another qualified company. Getting a dangerous situation handled matters more to us than keeping the job.
When the electrician arrives
Not every emergency turns into a big project. Our job when we walk in is to find out what's actually wrong before we talk about fixing anything.
Where did you notice it? When did it start? Can you point us to the area or device? You know your house — that's where we start.
Using the right tools for it — a meter, a non-contact voltage tester, a receptacle tester, and a careful hands-on inspection. We check outlets, switches, devices, circuits, connections, and panel components as the situation calls for.
Overheating, loose or damaged connections, an overloaded circuit, damaged wiring, a failed outlet or switch, or a panel-related problem. We figure out the cause — not just the symptom.
Once we know what it is, you get the price before we proceed. Emergencies are never an excuse for surprise billing.
What happens next
If what we find is straightforward — a bad outlet, a failed switch, a loose connection — and it can reasonably be handled within your appointment, we take care of it then and there instead of just diagnosing it and leaving. When a part is needed, we use what's on the truck when we can, or get what's needed when it's reasonable to within the visit.
If the repair needs more labor or materials than the appointment covers, we tell you what's involved and what it costs before we go further. Nothing extra happens without your OK first.
Some problems are bigger than a single visit. When that's the case, our first priority is to leave your home in a safe condition. When it can be done safely, that can mean isolating or disconnecting the unsafe part of the system while keeping safe power on elsewhere — and we try to preserve power for the things that matter most in your home when we safely can.
Before we leave, we walk you through what we found, what was done to make it safe, what the permanent repair involves, and what it will cost. You can approve our proposal or get another quote — either way, the goal is never to knowingly leave a known electrical hazard live.
One honest note: we can't always promise the power stays on. Some conditions have to stay shut off until they're properly repaired — that's what keeps you safe.
Might this save you $100?
Plenty of electrical problems are real but not emergencies. If yours can safely wait for the next available appointment, the $300 diagnostic makes more sense than the $400 priority call. A few common ones:
Did you just add an appliance or a big new load? That helps us tell whether the circuit is overloaded and what it needs. If nothing changed and it keeps tripping, stop resetting it and schedule a diagnostic.
Usually the next available appointment. Some small, predictable jobs we can even quote over the phone.
Generally a diagnostic — unless it comes with other symptoms that point to something more urgent.
If there's no melting, burning smell, or smoke, we can talk through whether it's a normal diagnostic or a priority call.
Usually next available, unless something about the situation makes it urgent.
With no smoke or fire, that's normally a standard service call. If circumstances warrant, we can talk about priority.
When it's a judgment call, just talk to us. A panel that feels unusually hot, power that's swinging bright and dim, certain equipment failures — describe what you're seeing and we'll help you decide. We'll never tell you to sit on something genuinely hazardous just to save $100. And if a problem knocks out something essential — your fridge, your heat in dangerous cold, your AC in dangerous heat — that can move it up the list. Call and we'll weigh it with you.
